DOH Lake Clean Up and Healthiest Weight Activities

FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IN LAKE COUNTY PARTICIPATES IN FLORIDA HEALTH CLEAN UP AND HEALTHIEST WEIGHT ACTIVITIES 

Lake CountyA total of 48 Florida Department of Health in Lake County employees participated in a Florida Health Clean up!   The team cleaned up North Lake Community Park and a 2 mile stretch along Highway 452 in Umatilla.  They collected 25 bags of trash which totaled 48 pounds.
 
In addition, 80 DOH- Lake employees had an opportunity to participate in organized Healthiest Weight activities at North Lake Community Park in an effort to raise awareness of the long term benefits of health and physical fitness.  Activities included a Diabetes Prevention Seminar conducted by Amanda Jendersee, DOH-Lake Public Health Nutritionist, whose objective was to raise employee diabetes awareness, risk factors, signs and community resources.  
 
Florida Health Clean Up! Is a venture of Healthiest Weight Florida, a public-private collaboration bringing together state agencies, not-for-profit organizations, businesses and entire communities to help Florida’s children and adults make consistent, informed choices about healthy eating and active living.  “Small choices affect your health and long term well-being.  It’s important to educate the community and DOH-Lake staff on the benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle” said Aaron Kissler, Administrator, Florida Department of Health in Lake County.
 
“This was a wonderful opportunity towards achieving our main goals to keep Lake County clean and show our staff how participating in vigorous activities will have a major positive impact on their health and lives ” said Lillian Rodriguez, Coordinator of Quality Assurance & Quality Improvement Initiatives, Florida Department of Health in Lake County.
