Lake County The Florida Department of Health in Lake County is inviting the public to participate on the county-wide Local Public Health System Assessment (LPHSA) series at the Lake County Extension Services Building, 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares, FL  32778, Training Room A from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on the following dates (you may attend multiple days):

  • Monday, April 11th (Essential Services 1 & 2)
  • Tuesday, April 19th (Essential Services 3 & 4)
  • Wednesday, April 27th (Essential Services 5 & 6)
  • Thursday, May 5th (Essential Services 7 & 9)
  • Monday, May 9th (Essential Services 8 & 10)

The local public health system includes all governmental and nongovernmental organizations whose combined activities contribute to the health and well-being of the community.

A local public health system assessment is a process which evaluates and documents how well the local public health system fulfills the ten essential services of public health.  More information about the ten essential services can be found at www.cdc.gov/nphpsp/essentialservices.html.  Attendees will have an opportunity to review and assess performance based on a set of national standards.
