2016 World Breastfeeding Week Events  

EUSTIS, FL The Lake County Breastfeeding Task Force is excited to announce a series of events aimed to educate and encourage the local community about the significance of breastfeeding. During World Breastfeeding Week, August 1-7, 2016, each area hospital will host the following events:

If you are pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant, you’re invited to the Mom-to-Be Expo where you can learn more about preparing for your baby, childbirth and breastfeeding.

Our Journey towards the Baby Friendly Hospital Designation
Wednesday, August 3rd, 2016, 1-4pm; Sky Top Classroom
A reception for our healthcare staff to learn about the Hospital’s Baby Friendly Initiative, and the local resources available to support new mothers and their babies.

A breastfeeding awareness event for staff who serve mothers and babies, also welcoming the mothers and babies we serve to share your breastfeeding experience.

The Lake County Breastfeeding Task Force is dedicated to improving the success of breastfeeding initiation and duration, and to promote breastfeeding as the cultural norm for families and professionals in our community by providing consistent support, advocacy and evidence-based education.
 
The Task Force is a committee of area caregivers involved in the lives of mothers and babies, partnering together to improve breastfeeding outcomes in Lake County.
 
“World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated every year from 1 to 7 August in more than 170 countries to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies around the world. It commemorates the Innocenti Declaration signed in August 1990 by government policymakers, WHO, UNICEF and other organizations to protect, promote and support breastfeeding.”
