FREE HIV TESTING IN OBSERVANCE OF NATIONAL LATINO HIV/AIDS AWARENESS DAY 

Eustis, FL - The Florida Department of Health in Lake County will once again support the “National Latino HIV/AIDS Testing Day,” a nationwide campaign to promote HIV/AIDS testing and education within the Hispanic and Latino communities.  This special day is designed to make people more aware of the potential risk for HIV infection and to learn their HIV status. This year’s theme is “To Defeat HIV You’re a Superhero. Use Your Powers.”.  

The Health Department will offer FREE HIV testing to residents for Latino HIV/AIDS Awareness Day scheduled on October 13, 2017 from 1pm-3-pm at the Florida Department of Health in Lake County Umatilla Health Center located at 249 E. Collins Street in Umatilla.  As per the latest statistics, in 2015 Hispanics/Latinos accounted for 24% of the 40,040 newly diagnoses of HIV infection in the United States and Gay and Bisexual men accounted for 85% of the HIV diagnoses among Hispanic/Latino men.

If someone is infected with HIV, the Florida Department of Health in Lake County will assist with linking the individual directly to medical care and other services that can help them live long productive lives.  For more information, please contact the Florida Department of Health in Lake County at 352-771-5547.
