Eustis, Fla — This week, April 1 – 7, the Florida Department of Health in Lake County is acknowledging National Public Health Week (NPHW). NPHW presents an opportunity for communities across the United States to reflect on the contributions of public health and highlight issues that are important to improving our health.

Public health professionals across Lake County make it their life’s work to help keep people and communities healthy- from better maternal and child health to improvements in disease control and prevention to addressing environmental concerns and emergency preparedness.

“We have a lot to celebrate here in Lake County! Public Health Week is a great time to reflect on the amazing work being accomplished by the Florida Department of Health in Lake County, Lake County Government and all our partners” said Aaron Kissler, Health Officer for the Florida Department of Health in Lake County.

Based on the results of health assessment activities, the 2017-2020 Lake County CHIP plan provides a roadmap for health over the next three years.  The top five (5) identified focus areas include obesity, substance abuse, access to food and nutrition, access to primary care, and diabetes.

Join the CHIP team and let others know what your organization or neighborhood is doing or planning related to the top focus areas.  Learn more at lake.floridahealth.gov.
