DOH-LAKE and Community Partners Working Together to Combat COVID-19

Eustis, FL — Lake County has 235 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the community. This information is updated daily and can be found on the Florida Department of Health’s COVID-19webpage.

 

The Florida Department of Health in Lake County (DOH-Lake), along with healthcare partners, local government and other community partners are monitoring the COVID-19 situation and protecting the public. To keep the community informed of the status of these efforts, DOH-Lake will be providing recurring updates.

 

“As we transition to phase I of the Safe. Smart. Step-by-Step. Plan to Re-open Florida. We continue to work with our community partners in an effort to keep our public places and business safe and functional during the COVID-19 Epidemic” said Aaron Kissler, DOH-Lake Health Officer.

 

“Community Actions Being Taken to Respond to COVID-19”

 

  • DOH-Lake established a local call center to handle health questions regarding COVID- 19.
  • Lake County Government opened the Citizen's Information Line to handle questions regarding business closings and reopening’s, unemployment, housing, food, and other issues related to COVID-19 response
  • DOH-Lake strike teams have responded to long term care facilities with COVID-19 positive
  • Lake County Government has partnered with Adult Medicine of Lake County, the City of Leesburg, Lake Sumter State College and DOH-Lake to offer COVID-19 testing at three different sites in Lake
  • Emergency Management has supported logistics operations to provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other supplies to Assisted Living Facilities//Nursing Homes and other healthcare
  • AdventHealth is providing testing at Lake-Sumter State College in

 

“All of the available testing provides more opportunities for residents to be tested whether they have symptoms or not. This is a great stride forward in gathering more evidence to make decisions that are grounded in facts to get Lake County’s families and businesses back to normal.” said Thomas Carpenter, Director of the Lake County Office of Emergency Management.


 

 

 

Sites for COVID-Testing in Lake County

FDA approved swab or antibody tests will be administered to Lake County residents for $20 through May 17. The sites will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at:

  • 3619 Lake Center Drive, Mount Dora (Adult Medicine of Lake County) –Monday through
  • 3700 S. Hwy 27th, Clermont (Clermont Arts & Recreation Center) – Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • 109 E. Dixie Ave., Leesburg (Venetian Gardens at the intersection of Canal Street and Dixie Avenue) – Wednesdays and

AdventHealth

AdventHealth is providing testing at Lake-Sumter State College in Leesburg thru May 8th. Registration is highly encouraged and those who meet the criteria and wish to be tested should visit https://www.adventhealth.com/coronavirus-resource-hub/coronavirus-covid-19-screening-and-testing prior to arrival. There are no out-of-pocket costs, regardless of insurance status.

 

DOH-Lake

Any Lake County resident with symptoms and without a primary healthcare provider can contact the DOH-Lake COVID-19 hotline at 352-742-4830. The hotline is open seven days a week 9am-5pm. Callers will go through a screening process and if they meet CDC criteria’s they will be referred to a DOH-Lake testing site for testing.

Women, Infants, Children (WIC)

WIC is a federally funded nutrition program for Women, Infants, and Children who meet income and nutrition risk requirements. WIC provides participants who qualify for the program with the following at no cost: healthy foods, nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding support, and referrals for health care and community services.

 

  • The DOH-Lake WIC program continues to help families with supplemental nutrition for babies, infants and moms-to-be. At this time, in order to limit exposure and help prevent the spread of COVID-19, some Lake County WIC clients may now receive services over the phone without having to come to one of the WIC office locations.   • For Breastfeeding questions or concerns and for encouragement and support please call the WIC Breastfeeding hotline at 352-771-5564.

DOH-Lake COVID-19 hotline

Residents can call the DOH-Lake COVID-19 hotline at 352-742-4830 for any health-related questions or testing information seven days a week 9am-5pm.

 

Citizen Information Line

The Lake County Citizen Information Line is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can call (352) 253-9999 with questions about government operation, office closures, reemployment options, business resources and more.

 

Lake County Government

The Lake County Government website has a COVID-19 resource page with information on testing sites, business resources, county closures and openings, events updates and cancellations, re-employment resources etc. at www.lakecountyfl.gov/
