Eustis, FL. – The Florida Department of Health in Lake County (DOH-Lake) is no longer scheduling COVID-19 immunization appointments but will honor previously scheduled appointments. Currently, the Florida Department of Health is only distributing the first dose. Persons who have received their first dose will be contacted to complete the two-dose series.

“Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) immunization distribution plan is dependent on demand determined by reported use,” said Aaron Kissler, DOH-Lake Administrator. “Our goal in this first phase, is to safely and quickly distribute every vaccine allocated to Lake County. We recognize that the first come, first served approach has its drawbacks but it best supports our primary goal of offering immunization to as many people as possible.” Because of the rapid disbursement of vaccines in Lake County, FDEM has allocated another shipment, this time of Pfizer vaccines expected to arrive early to mid-week, next week.  The Lake County Board of County Commissioner purchased an ultra-cold freezer in early December which will accommodate storage of this vaccine.”

DOH-Lake wants to remind the public that our immunization plan is long-term. Persons who have been unable to receive a vaccine during this first phase will have an opportunity as we continue and expand our efforts.

Once vaccines arrive, immunization will resume on a first come, first served basis. We have partnered with the Lake County government to provide mobile updates to residents as immunization sites become available. Sign up by texting COVIDUPDATE to 888777.
