School Health Services
Florida School Health Services are public services provided to students in Pre-K through 12th grade by the 67 local county health departments and school districts. The School Health Services Program provides the services mandated in Florida statute sections 381.0056, 381.0057, and 402.3026. The School Health Services are intended to minimize health barriers to learning. There are 45 schools in Lake County with 39,145 students.
The registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and health support techs make up the School Health staff, and provide basic school health services. These health services include: nursing assessments, community health education, immunization clinics, and review records for immunization compliance. The School Health Staff also provides health screenings for vision, hearing, scoliosis, height and weight, and Body Mass Index.
