County health departments have the responsibility for the supervision of all private, multi-family, and limited-use public water systems from which water is available to the public. DOH-Lake issues construction and operating permits for small community and commercial limited-use water systems. We have a delegated well permitting program with the St. Johns River Water Management District that issues permits on wells less than 6 inches in diameter within Lake County district areas.
Our Water Services section monitors groundwater in delineated areas, performs contamination sampling for pesticides in old grove or agricultural areas, and inspects wells for chemical contaminants.
